Gary Moore released his first solo album in 1973. In 1978 his career continued with help from Phil Lynott. The combination of Moore’s blues-based guitar and Lynott’s voice, produced “Parisienne Walkways”, which reached the Top Ten in the UK Singles Chart in April 1979. After a series of rock records, Moore returned to blues music with Still Got the Blues, with contributions from Albert King, Albert Collins and George Harrison. Moore stayed with the blues format until 1997, when he decided to experiment with modern dance beats on Dark Days in Paradise; this left many fans, as well as the music press confused. Back to the Blues saw Moore return to his tried and tested blues format in 2001, then continued by Power of the Blues (2004), Old New Ballads Blues (2006), Close As You Get (2007) and his most recent album Bad For You Baby (2008).

Smooth jazz groups and recording artists tend to play their instruments in a melodic fashion such that they are recognizable within just a few measures. This category includes names such as saxophonists Kenny G, David Sanborn and Art Porter, Jr.; guitarists George Benson, Marc Antoine, and Peter White; and pianists Joe Sample, David Benoit, and Bradley Joseph.

Joe Bonamassa received his first guitar from his father at the age of 4, and by age 7 he was playing Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix tunes note for note. At the age of 12, he opened for B. B. King. After first hearing him play, King said, “This kid’s potential is unbelievable. He hasn’t even begun to scratch the surface.

Today, Joe is considered the KING of Modern Day Blues Guitar.

Van Morrison is a critically acclaimed singer and songwriter. Some of his recordings, such as the studio albums Astral Weeks and Moondance, and the live album It’s Too Late to Stop Now, are widely viewed as among the greatest ever made.

Moondance established Morrison as a major artist, and throughout the 1970s he built on his reputation with a series of critically acclaimed albums and live performances. Morrison continues to record and tour, producing albums and live performances that sell well and are generally warmly received.

Stevie Ray Vaughan was a guitarist, singer and songwriter. Eighteen albums of Vaughan’s work have been released. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Stevie Ray Vaughan #7 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time and Classic Rock Magazine ranked him #3 in their list of the 100 Wildest Guitar Heroes in 2007.

Fleetwood Mac was formed in 1967 in London when Peter Green left the British blues band John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers. Green had replaced guitarist Eric Clapton in the Bluesbreakers, and received critical acclaim for his work on their album A Hard Road.

The two most successful periods for Fleetwood mac were during the late 1960s British blues boom, when they were led by guitarist Peter Green, and from 1975 to 1987, with more pop-orientation, featuring Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.

Riley B. King, known by the stage name B.B. King, is a blues guitarist and singer-songwriter acclaimed for his expressive singing and guitar playing. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him at #3 on its list of the “100 greatest guitarists of all time.” King introduced a sophisticated style of soloing based on fluid string bending and shimmering vibrato that would influence virtually every electric blues guitarist that followed.

With five number one singles and six number one albums, the Eagles were one of the most successful recording artists of the 1970s. At the end of the 20th century, two of their albums, Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) and Hotel California, ranked among the 20 best-selling albums in the U.S. Hotel California is ranked 37th in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and the band was ranked #75 on the magazine’s 2004 list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. They also have the best selling album of the 20th century in the U.S. with Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975), which sold more than 29 million copies.

The Eagles broke up in 1980, but reunited in 1994 for Hell Freezes Over, a mix of live and new studio tracks. They have toured intermittently since then, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998

John Lennon was an English rock musician, singer-songwriter, author, and peace activist who achieved worldwide fame as one of the founding members of The Beatles. With Paul McCartney, he formed one of the most influential and successful songwriting partnerships of the 20th century. The second most successful songwriter in Billboard singles chart history after McCartney, he was responsible for 27 number one singles on the US Hot 100 chart as a performer or songwriter.

“The Blues” is both a musical form and a music genre created primarily within the African-American communities in the Deep South of the United States at the end of the 19th century from spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts and chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads. The blues form ubiquitous in jazz, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll is characterized by specific chord progressions—the twelve-bar blues chord progressions being the most common—and the blue note that for expressive purposes are sung or played flattened or gradually bent (minor 3rd to major 3rd) in relation to the pitch of the major scale.
